As a first-time home buyer, Dom Bagnulo felt that the service was lacking, and firmly believed it would have been better had he had a buyer’s agent. “I took that experience and decided I wanted to make sure it didn’t happen to other people,” the Raleigh, North Carolina-based agent says. So, after his career in recruiting ended abruptly as part of the economic downturn, he took the opportunity to inch into the real estate business. Within a few years of making the transition, his business was booming, leading Bagnulo to create DNA Realty. Now six members strong, the team is thrilled to join Keller Williams and learn from the best in the industry.

“We’ve never been somewhere where we weren’t the top producers, and it’s humbling to be among others who outproduce us and have people we can go to for guidance in reaching the next level,” Bagnulo says. “That was a big part in us choosing Keller Williams.” As a leader, Bagnulo prides himself on sharing his own secrets and resources and helping others succeed. “I’ve never hesitated to do that, and something I love about the Keller Williams atmosphere is all the different, strong leaders coming together, sharing the skills they’ve picked up.”

Among his team, he is known as an easygoing leader. “If you walked into the room, you wouldn’t be able to tell who’s the boss,” Bagnulo says. But don’t be fooled – this doesn’t mean the team doesn’t strive for success. Bagnulo is a huge believer in accountability, so long as the agents themselves decide the goals they want to pursue. Once that is set, he acts as a conductor, motivating each individual to fulfill their goals in weekly one-on-ones and coaching them through any difficulties.

Overall, he wants his agents to be equipped to provide the best service possible for the Raleigh market, which he is a native of. For Bagnulo, seeing the town double in size in the last 20 years has been a real treat. “We’re seeing people moving from New York and Boston, getting away from the hustle and bustle and accelerating their plans,” he says. “It’s awesome to help them realize the dream of homeownership.”

Once Bagnulo and his team implement the Keller Williams models and systems, he plans on helping his sphere achieve this dream in a different role. “I want to come in and learn from other teams and group leaders – not just how to be a rainmaker, but how to truly run a business,” he shares. Ultimately, he aims to grow further by passing over production responsibilities to his team members while inching more into leadership and management, an exciting change of pace.
